Mashreq, one of the leading financial institutions in the UAE and the Middle East, has announced that its global headquarters is now Leed Gold certified by US Green Building Council for its efforts towards sustainability and protecting the environment.
Leed rating system is the most widely used green building rating system, which provides a framework for healthy, efficient, carbon and cost-saving green buildings.
The accolade recognises Mashreq’s commitment to effective waste management, sustainability, energy and water efficiency and management, innovation, indoor environmental quality and transportation, said a statement from the Dubai group.
Leed certification is a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement and leadership. These Leed-certified buildings save money, improve efficiency, lower carbon emissions and create healthier places for people.
They are a critical part of addressing climate change and meeting ESG goals, enhancing resilience, and supporting more equitable communities, it added.
According to Mashreq, it is now the only building headquarters within the financial sector in the region to secure such a coveted recognition thereby reinforcing its pledge to ESG standards.
