HORSERACING – Caballo De Mar, owned by His Majesty King Hamad’s humanitarian work and youth affairs representative and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman (SCYS) Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for Victorious Forever team, won yesterday the 20-furlong Qatar Prix du Cadran Group One race at Longchamp Racecourse in France.
On this occasion, Shaikh Nasser affirmed that the victory reflects the high standing that Bahraini equestrian sports has attained on the international stage, and embodies the fruits of continuous work and an ambitious vision to raise the kingdom’s flag high in international forums.
Shaikh Nasser praised the efforts of jockey Tom Marquand and trainer George Scott and their tireless work in preparing the four-year-old winner for one of the most important events in Europe.
Caballo De Mar won with a length-and-three-quarter’s gap from runner-up Coltrane, ridden by Oisin Murphy, while Queenstown came third with jockey Christophe Soumillon in the saddle.
