Traffic regulations have been ramped up as the nation gears up for the 2022 National Elections this weekend.
People have been urged by the General Traffic Directorate to co-operate with the authorities and follow instructions to ensure a secure and safe democratic process.
Regulations were announced on the directorate’s official social media accounts with individuals urged to fully co-operate with Traffic policemen and security personnel.
“Those walking to the polling centres are to cross roads only at designated crossing areas to ensure their own safety,” said the directorate.
“Drivers should be cautious and slow down when approaching these designated crossing areas.
“Large gatherings next to or on main highways and roads are prohibited.”
The directorate has also urged individuals to park their cars in proper designated parking spaces and refrain from blocking other vehicles or roads.
Parking in spaces for the handicapped without proper authorisation is strictly prohibited.
“Drivers must remain in their respective lanes and refrain from dropping off passengers on main roads,” added the directorate.
“It is also prohibited to place stickers on vehicles or blur car number plates.”
