A MOVIE probing the aftermath of the First World War, through the memories and relationships of those left behind, will be screened at the Bahrain Cinema Club, Juffair, at 7pm today.
The 2016 drama-film, Franzt, directed and co-written by François Ozon, was nominated for the Golden Lion Award at the Venice Film Festival.

The movie is about a young German woman, Anna, whose fiancé, Frantz, is killed in the trenches of the war. Adrien, a French veteran of the war, makes a mysterious appearance in her town, placing flowers on Frantz’s grave.
His presence is met with resistance by the small community still reeling from Germany’s defeat. Yet, Anna gradually becomes closer to the handsome and melancholic young man as she learns of his deep friendship with Frantz.
The two-hour-long movie was nominated for 10 César Awards, including for best film, best director, best actor and best promising actress. The movie will have English subtitles. For details, call 39682323.
