Al Jasra Handicrafts Centre is organising a creative children’s workshop on the art of palm frond weaving on Saturday.
Saff weaving is a traditional handicraft practised by women to make household accessories and tools, from dining mats and storage baskets to small dishes, hand-held fans and chicken coops.
It is still practised in several villages throughout the island, although it is most prevalent in the villages of Karbabad, Jasra and Budaiya.
The workshop costs BD10 and is open to children between the ages of seven to 14 years.
It will run from 10am to noon.
