MANAMA: Bahrain’s national pavilion opens today at GITEX 2016 being held at Dubai World Trade Centre until Thursday.
Bahrain’s pavilion includes 29 technology companies in Bahrain along with the Transportation and Communications Ministry, Economic Development Board, Information and eGovernment Authority and Tamkeen.
Bahrain is taking part in the event along with 100 countries around the globe exhibiting 3,500 brands. The participating Bahraini companies offer their technical services and products to more than 140,000 visitors, including 22,000 executives and decision-makers.
Organisers of the pavilion for the 10th consecutive year are Work Smart, the renowned event management company, and the Bahrain Technology Companies Society.
The pavilion provides an opportunity to meet Bahraini companies with each other and to engage in fruitful partnerships, while the participation of the governmental organisations forms added value to explore technical needs of the public sector in Bahrain and ways to fulfilling them.
GITEX offers an annual opportunity to Bahrain’s IT companies to showcase their products in regional and global markets, and the chance to develop these products in line with developments in telecommunications and information industry in the region and the world. In addition to that, the chance of finding agents for these products around the world is available on the one hand, and the chance to represent international companies looking for a foothold in the Bahraini market on the other.
The main goal of the Bahraini participation in GITEX was to record Bahraini presence in this international forum for information technology manufacturers around the world.
“Today, after 10 years of active participation, our goals became clearer and bigger. We aim to strengthen the ICT industry in Bahrain, raising the share of Bahraini companies from six per cent to 10pc in the IT investments markets in the Arabian Gulf which reached around $30 billion,” Work Smart chief executive Ahmed Al Hujairi said.
He added that the company was keen to choose a perfect location for the pavilion in the exhibition.
“The design of the pavilion will be open and will include a permanent display hall which will provide continuous shows about Bahrain’s economic and investment features. Time will be allocated to display products and services of the participating Bahraini companies,” he said.
