Bahrain’s national team golf coach Gabriel Sota is the latest celebrity to support GDN Media’s second annual holy month community campaign.
He visited the GDN headquarters yesterday and handed over a bag of clothes that were warmly received by our security chief Ebrahim Ali.
GDN Media has teamed up with Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) to help provide support for the victims of the recent earthquakes that destroyed parts of Syria and Türkiye, as well as struggling local families.
Mr Sota believes every donation, whether small or big, can make a difference.
“I remember watching news channels last month that showed rescue efforts as teams pulled survivors out of the rubble of the damaged buildings,” said Mr Sota, who has been Bahrain’s national coach since 2019.
“It’s a tough thing to witness an earthquake ... there is a real fear.
“This is why I decided it’s important to do something for a survivor, someone in need, and I encourage others in Bahrain to support this campaign.”
The GDN reported earlier that the Spanish expat sports star won the Best European Club Maker 2022 after previously claiming it in 2003.
He started playing the game at the age of five, an inevitability considering his family is of great golfing stock.
His father played on the precursor to what would become the European Tour and he is a cousin of legendary Seve Ballesteros, one of the sport’s most iconic figures.
Gulf Daily News readers and online visitors have already started to offer support with supplies of bedding and toys. Toiletries, clothing and shoes would also be welcomed.
We are appealing to YOU to donate gifts during Ramadan to our offices at The Press in East Riffa, our commercial HQ on Exhibitions Road and the BRCS HQ in Manama.
Under the hashtag #HelpThem we need your support to collect brand new:
Clothes, shoes and accessories for men, women and children
Blankets and pillows
Hygiene kits
And toys
Your generous donations will help people whose lives were destroyed in a matter of seconds and minutes and give hope that rebuilding dignity and everyday life will be possible this Eid.
We can help BRCS to achieve so much by picking up some extra clothing, blankets, toothbrushes, sanitary products and toys, for example, when you’re next on a shopping trip.
Our teams are ready and waiting to receive your big-hearted donations.
