His Majesty King Hamad yesterday praised the strategic partnership between Bahrain and the US, as well as the ongoing co-ordination between them to safeguard security and peace across the region.
He affirmed Bahrain’s keenness to strengthen its relations with the US in a way that would achieve global security as he visited the US Naval Support Facility in Juffair.
The King was accompanied by BDF Commander-in Chief Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, National Security Adviser and Royal Guard Commander Major General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Royal Guard Special Force Commander Lieutenant Colonel Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Upon arrival, he was welcomed by the Commander of the US Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT) and Fifth Fleet Vice Admiral Charles Bradford Cooper, US Ambassador Steven Bondy, and the Royal Bahrain Naval Force Commander.
His Majesty was given the marine military salute, and then the national anthem was played.
The King shook hands with the affiliates of the Fifth Fleet, and expressed thanks and appreciation to the NAVCENT and Fifth Fleet commanders for their invitation.
He was briefed about military co-operation between the two countries, as well as their humanitarian operations, undertaken along with other countries, to secure the freedom of navigation and smooth maritime trade flow in the region and the world.
