FIFTEEN people were evacuated after a blaze broke out yesterday morning at the Carawan Plaza Hotel at the back of Exhibition Avenue in Hoora.
An Interior Ministry official told the GDN that 15 guests and members of staff were evacuated after the fire started in a room.
Two women suffering from smoke inhalation were treated at the scene by National Ambulance medics.
Investigators believe the fire was caused by an overheating air conditioner switch.
The emergency services were alerted after eye-witnesses spotted smoke blowing out of a fourth floor window of the hotel.
