The Muslim world is gearing up for the new Islamic Year (Hijri Year 1445), which starts tomorrow.
The Cabinet, at its meeting yesterday, extended greetings to His Majesty King Hamad, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the citizens and residents of Bahrain, as well as to Arab and Islamic nations on the occasion.
The King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence celebrated the advent of the Hijri Year, in the presence of leading figures and dignitaries representing different sects in Bahrain.
Addressing the event, the centre’s board of trustees’ chairman Shaikh Khalifa bin Abdulla Al Khalifa praised the King’s far-sighted vision which, he said, laid the foundations for coexistence and peace in Bahrain.
Shaikh Khalifa congratulated His Majesty and HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Islam forbids any loss of life, assault or injustice during Muharram, the first month of Hijri Year, he said, stressing the importance of piety, peace, coexistence and respect for humanity.
He underlined the mission of the centre which advocates coexistence between people and religions, and supports peace and love all over the world.
