FREE transport services for Ashoora season have been inaugurated by Jaafri Endowments Directorate chairman Youssef Al Saleh.
Present at the event were Capital deputy governor Hassan Al Madani and Al Sadiq Transport chief executive Majed Taher.
The transport company will run buses from six points across Bahrain – Jidhafs, Bilad Al Qadeem, Al Burhama, Salmaniya, Gufool and Manama – until Saturday.
From Manama, golf carts will be used to transport people – especially the elderly, those with special needs, and children – to ma’atams around the capital.
The initiative is aimed at ensuring the smooth flow of traffic during what is normally a very busy season.
Mr Al Saleh praised the directives of His Majesty King Hamad and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to provide the best services possible during the season.
He also praised Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and the Interior Ministry for their keenness to co-ordinate the activities.
