An Air India Express flight to Bahrain from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, India, with 180 passengers aborted its take-off as it was about to be airborne yesterday, according to media reports.
Passengers of Flight IX573 were quoted as saying that they had heard a sound as the aircraft was moving on the runway at around 11am.
Incidentally, it was the second Air India Express flight yesterday that developed a snag.
Full emergency was declared at Thiruvananthapuram after a Sharjah-bound flight that had left Tiruchirapally in Tamil Nadu with 161 passengers made an emergency landing following a technical snag.
Flight AX B613 took off from Tiruchirapally at 10.53am and soon came the news that it needed an emergency landing, and after flying for 50 minutes landed safely at Thiruvananthapuram.
It is suspected that the hydraulic gear of the aircraft was damaged.
Both the aircraft were moved to the Air India Express hangar for repair work.
