A residential complex being constructed in Al Louzi through the ‘Tasheel’ social housing project has proved a success, with 93 per cent of the units already booked.
Deputy Premier Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa inaugurated the project in June, the first to be implemented under the Government Land Development Programme.
Demand for the financing solutions provided through the ‘Tasheel’ programme topped 70pc, compared with other funding schemes.
The encouraging figures were announced by the Deputy Premier at a ceremony where he honoured heads and representatives of eight banks and 20 real estate companies which participated in the second edition of Housing Finance Expo, which was held in June.
Housing and Urban Planning Minister Amna Al Romaihi and other officials attended the ceremony which was held at Gudaibiya Palace yesterday.
The Deputy Premier noted the tangible increase in housing services and solutions which are tailored to meet the needs of citizens and reflect the wide-ranging development momentum, led by His Majesty King Hamad, with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He noted that housing policies are undergoing constant review, highlighting strategic partnership with the private sector, which is playing now an essential role in social housing projects.
He underlined efforts to diversify housing solutions and make them available to targeted citizens, taking into account their financial abilities, effective needs and specific desires.
Addressing the ceremony he announced that efforts would be stepped up to ensure more citizens benefit from the government’s initiatives and programmes.
