PEOPLE have been urged to ensure that their electrical appliances are maintained regularly and avoid using poor quality wirings, to avoid fires.
In an advisory yesterday, the Civil Defence called upon citizens and residents to follow general safety guidelines, especially during the summer.
This came as the GDN yesterday reported that Civil Defence personnel extinguished a fire that broke out in a house in Hajiyyat due to an electrical short circuit. No one was injured.
Meanwhile, Bahrain recorded the highest electricity consumption on Thursday, reaching 3,798 megawatts.
Last year’s highest power consumption was registered at 3,708mw on August 18.
The Electricity and Water Authority has request its subscribers to rationalise their power and water consumption.
