A HOLLYWOOD actor, best known for his roles on the hit zombie show The Walking Dead and superhero movie Shazam!, has become the fourth celebrity to be confirmed for the upcoming Bahrain Comic Con (BCC).
Andrew Lawrence Cooper, professionally known as Cooper Andrews, is most recognisable for his role as Victor Vásquez in Shazam! and as Jerry on The Walking Dead.
He will be joining Lochlyn Munro (Riverdale), Alexander Ludwig (Vikings) and Carolina Ravassa (Overwatch) at the popular convention, taking place on October 6 and 7 at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir.
“Hello, my friends in Bahrain… I’ll be attending your Comic Con this year!” Mr Cooper said, in a post on social media yesterday.
“I am looking forward to meeting all of you, and I guess I gotta pack!”
The 38-year-old American actor also played the recurring role of Yo-Yo Engberk in the first three seasons of Halt and Catch Fire before being cast in The Walking Dead and Shazam! as well as its sequel released earlier this year, Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
Mr Cooper has also worked behind the camera as a boom operator, stunt co-ordinator and assistant director.
This year’s BCC is being held under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Tickets to the two-day event, being organised by Dallah Promotions, are now on sale at the Virgin Megastore.
A one-day pass is on sale for BD10 while a two-day pass costs BD15. There is also a VIP pass for BD100, which includes early entry to the convention, a fast-track queue for celebrity photos and autographs, a choice to meet two celebrities and get an autograph and photo, an exclusive goodie bag, complimentary access to the VIP Lounge and free entry into the BCC after-party for those aged 21 and above.
BCC will also feature a cosplay competition, which will be judged by top cosplayers from across the region, to be announced in the coming weeks.
As in previous years, there will be an artist alley, where local creatives can showcase and sell their art pieces and services.
E-sports are set to be a focus of this year’s event in line with the ‘keen interest’ in the sector expressed by Shaikh Khalid.
The convention will take place on Friday, October 6 from 1pm to 11pm, and Saturday, October 7 from noon to 11pm.
