Thousands of government schoolchildren jumped ‘with’ joy as they returned to their classes across the nation at the start of the new 2023-2024 academic year this morning after the summer break.
Around 155,000 students, including 15,000 newcomers to grade one, wearing new school uniforms were greeted at the gates of their schools by thrilled teachers, administrators and faculty with roses, sweets and gifts.
In the case of some schools they were welcomed by senior ministry officials as they took their hands to classes.
Special programmes for grade one students entering mainstream education for the first time were held in the presence of parents.
