Authorities launched an investigation after an unlicensed rehabilitation centre was discovered offering treatment to addicts.
According to a statement, the facility provided treatment without a proper permit from the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA).
Teams from the NHRA and other entities raided the rogue facility after receiving a tip-off.
Inspectors found that 17 people were receiving treatment for addiction at the centre, and also seized medical devices and drugs from inside.
“A psychiatrist was allegedly providing unlicensed health services at the facility,” the statement added, which ‘constitutes a violation to laws and regulations.’
Inspectors also seized medical devices and drugs from the facility.
The Public Prosecution concluded that relevant legal measures were being taken.
