AN end to military escalation in the Gaza Strip, prioritising civilian protection and opening safe corridors for humanitarian aid will be on the top of the agenda as His Majesty King Hamad holds talks in Italy today.
His Majesty will arrive in Italy on a visit during which he will meet His Holiness Pope Francis and hold talks with President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
They will review the Israeli military escalation in the Gaza Strip and pushing forward efforts toward a comprehensive and just peace in the Middle East.
The leaders will also discuss the Bahraini-Italian ties and topics of common interests.
The trip follows similar high level talks in England yesterday. His Majesty met King Charles and reviewed the close historical partnership between Bahrain and the UK and means of further developing them in various domains.
The King also discussed regional and international developments with British government officials, including the Israeli war on Gaza.
He emphasised the importance of achieving just, lasting peace to consolidate regional security and stability.
