Two business owners have been fined more than BD120,000 for evading excise taxes on e-cigarette cartridges, and were ordered to pay back the unpaid taxes. The Lower Criminal Court fined the first defendant BD116,309 and the second BD4,262.
They were found to have imported and sold excisetaxed goods, specifically e-cigarette liquid or vape juice, through their commercial establishments while not paying the required dues.
The defendants were charged with tax evasion after prosecutors received a complaint from the National Bureau for Revenue concerning their activities.
