Bahrain’s firm and unflinching national stances in its political and diplomatic movement towards the human catastrophe in Gaza has been highlighted by Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani.
He reiterated the kingdom’s unwavering keenness on serving Arab issues, protecting security, stability and peace, boosting solidarity in braving challenges and unifying the GCC and Arab stances.
He also highlighted Bahrain’s ongoing political and diplomatic efforts at high levels regarding key issues, challenges and supporting the Palestinians’ legitimate rights to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, according to the two-state solution and the international legitimacy’s resolutions.
“The establishment of the Parliamentary Committee to Support the Palestinian People in Gaza reflects the dedicated sentiments of the Bahraini people and their strong belief to back the Palestinian brethren as well as provide support and assistance to them,” he said.
Dr Al Zayani was addressing a joint meeting with the committee chaired by Parliament Speaker Ahmed Al Musallam.
The meeting was held to outline the kingdom’s efforts to support the Palestinian cause and spotlight developments in the Gaza Strip.
Dr Al Zayani said the legislative branch’s efforts are in line with the royal directives of His Majesty King Hamad and the follow-up of the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He stressed that standing by the Palestinian people, supporting their right for sovereignty and independence and removing injustice to them is a great honour reflected in the Arab solidarity in emergency situations and hardships.
He lauded positive and fruitful co-operation between the executive and legislative authorities in supporting the national efforts in this respect.
The minister reiterated the kingdom’s condemnation of the violations against the Palestinian people which contravene international laws. He voiced anew the kingdom’s call for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, stopping escalation, protecting civilians, releasing hostages and detainees, delivering humanitarian and relief aids, including food, medicine, water, electricity and fuel, to the Palestinians.
Dr Al Zayani commended the outcome of the Extraordinary Joint Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh in response to the catastrophic situation unfolding in Palestine and to emphasise peoples’ unity in facing the Israeli aggression.
He described the summit as a historic precedent in the Arab and Islamic world bringing together, for the first time, 57 states representing two important organisations, the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation, to affirm full solidarity with the Palestinian people, demand an immediate halt of the destructive war, work on breaking the siege in Gaza and ensure immediate access of humanitarian aid to the strip.
Mr Al Musallam underscored Bahrain’s unchangeable and historic stance in support of the Palestinian cause, which emanates from the national fundamentals.
He commended the royal directives to deliver urgent aid to the Palestinian brethren amid the harsh humanitarian conditions undergone by them and support the efforts to achieve just, comprehensive and sustainable peace.
