The Royal Medical Services (RMS) transplant team has successfully performed a first-of-its-kind liver transplant in the kingdom on a patient in his twenties, said RMS Commander Brigadier Dr Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.
He was speaking as RMS inaugurated the Organ Transplantation Programme.
The move is in co-operation with King Fahad Specialist Hospital, in Dammam, to turn King Hamad University Hospital into a specialised centre in organ transplant.
