The 31st edition of Jewellery Arabia in Bahrain stands as a remarkable testament to the enduring partnership between this prestigious event and the illustrious Bahrain Jewellery Centre (BJC).
As the headline sponsor, BJC proudly upholds its legacy of excellence and innovation in luxury adornments, a sentiment echoed by Jayne Houghton, the media client editor at GDN.
In an exclusive conversation with the Shirazi family, the custodians of BJC, their deep-rooted connection with this renowned exhibition becomes evident.
Dina Shirazi, a director at BJC, underscores, “At BJC, our dedication to skilful artistry and imaginative expression serves as the foundation of our essence.”
She emphasises that at BJC, collaboration goes beyond traditional roles. Members contribute unique strengths, creating an environment where expertise, rather than gender, determines responsibilities. This inclusive approach fosters unity, propelling diverse perspectives forward.
The combination of experiences and mutual support breaks barriers, fostering an atmosphere where innovation flourishes. Together, they embrace shared aspirations, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to BJC’s success and lasting legacy.
“We set ourselves apart by partnering with over 50 globally acclaimed jewellery and watch brands, presenting a synthesis of innovation and time-honoured craftsmanship,” she continues. “Every meticulously crafted piece by our artisans reflects our unwavering pursuit of excellence. Our pavilion transforms into an immersive journey, seamlessly blending heritage with modern aesthetics, distinguishing us in the realm of luxury.”
Ahmed Shirazi, also a director at BJC, reverently acknowledges the legacy built by his father and uncles, highlighting their foundational role in establishing the company as a premier destination for exquisite jewellery and watches.
Reflecting on history, Abbas Shirazi, director of BJC, and a board member of BJC Holding, shares, “Back in 1992, Bahrain Jewellery Centre helped spearhead the creation of Jewellery Arabia, pioneering as the first exhibitor to lead this exceptional showcase. This year, our exhibit stands as the largest, spanning an incredible 5,000 plus square metres and welcoming esteemed international watchmakers and jewellers, making it a global gathering like no other.”
Sausan Shirazi, a director at BJC, remarks: “Throughout our 45-year journey, Bahrain Jewellery Centre has been intertwined with big brands and diverse jewellers. It’s a generational commitment; we’re the torchbearers of this legacy.”
“Brands now curate for all ages, offering a spectrum from classical to contemporary pieces, ensuring inclusivity for everyone,” adds Sausan when discussing clientele demographics and purchasing behaviours.
The conversation with the GDN reveals the essence of family continuity and shared passion within BJC.
Mohammed Shirazi reiterated that the younger generation hasn’t just inherited a business, but a heritage steeped in craftsmanship and creativity. It’s evident that the Shirazi family is dedicated to preserving tradition while adapting to evolving tastes throughout their offerings.
Rahma Shirazi, director of the jewellery department at BJC, renowned for crafting bespoke jewellery pieces, says: “The secret to success is always striving and aiming for greater goals. We are devoted to our brands, consistently catering to our clients’ needs by offering a wide range of choices and focusing on trending designs.”
The BJC pavillion at Exhibition World Bahrain features over 50 esteemed jewellery and watch brands, including distinguished names like Graff and Patek Philippe. Each creation tells a unique story crafted around the emotions and desires of clients.
Layla Shirazi, another director of BJC, discussed the evolving landscape of luxury adornments, highlighting a shift in consumer preferences towards one-of-a-kind pieces, as opposed to sets. From classical to modernised designs, catering to various clienteles, including the growing interest among younger generations.
Emphasising refined tastes, understanding craftsmanship, and an inclination towards timeless investments is why BJC always ensures the highest quality over fleeting trends.
As the curtains draw on this year’s Jewellery Arabia, the enduring bond between BJC and the event remains an exemplar of craftsmanship, heritage, and an unwavering commitment to offering an extraordinary experience to luxury connoisseurs worldwide.
