THE Housing Ministry will begin distributing 6,800 new homes to Bahrain’s citizens from Saturday.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, gave the orders yesterday as he chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting at Gudaibiya Palace.
This follows royal directives of His Majesty King Hamad and coincides with Bahrain’s National Day celebrations.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister assigned the Housing and Urban Planning Ministry to make the necessary preparations to start the distribution.
The Cabinet congratulated His Majesty on the National Day celebration, in commemoration of the establishment of Bahrain as a modern state and Arab and Muslim country in 1783 by Ahmed Al Fateh, as well as the anniversary of His Majesty’s Accession to the Throne.
The Cabinet also congratulated the people of Bahrain on this national occasion, noting that the kingdom also celebrates Bahraini citizens’ accomplishments that further Bahrain’s comprehensive development, led by the King.
The Cabinet expressed its thanks and appreciation to all the institutions and companies taking part in the ‘Celebrate Bahrain’ events.
Housing and Urban Planning Minister Amna Al Romaihi said after the Cabinet meeting that executive steps are being taken to carry out the order of HRH Prince Salman, on the distribution of the housing units.
A schedule had been put in place to distribute the ready-made units from Saturday to February 2024 and disburse financing requests scheduled to be provided until the end of 2024, she added.
The minister noted that the distribution plan consists of handing over the units of the first phase in East Sitra and a new batch of units in Salman Town and East Hidd.
The ministry would contact the beneficiaries and inform them about their attendance appointments to receive their keys, she noted.
The budgets allocated for providing financial services for 2024 include more than 5,000 requests, Ms Al Romaihi said.
