Preparations are in full swing for the His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Open Bodybuilding Championship, set to be held on August 23 at University of Bahrain.
The Bahrain Bodybuilding Federation (BBF) revealed yesterday the 17 competition categories will be a part of the event, which will take place under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
They include men’s bodybuilding 70kg, 80kg, 90kg, and over-90kg; men’s physique up to and including 170cm, 174cm, 179cm, and over-179cm; men’s classic physique up to and including 168cm, 171cm, 175cm, and 180cm, muscular men’s physique up to and including 179cm and over-179cm; junior men’s bodybuilding, master bodybuilding 40 and above, and master physique 40 and above.
The BBF stressed that they are exerting every effort to achieve maximum success for the championship, and that the competition committees are working diligently to present it in the best way.
Elite groups of bodybuilders from around the world are set to participate in the event, in addition to the many distinguished bodybuilders from Bahrain’s national team.
The week prior to the competition, the fifth West Asian championship will be held in Muscat, which will help the Bahrainis gear up for their medal bids.
