SWIMMING – Bahrain Elite Swimming Team (BEST) members returned from a Special Olympics swimming competition in Abu Dhabi with an impressive haul of medals.
Nasser Hubail, Ahmed Darwish and Hassan Mahdi all won medals in their respective categories for people of determination.
Hubail came away with two gold, one silver, and one bronze, while Darwish bagged a gold and a bronze medal while also taking an award for fourth place. Mahdi, meanwhile, finished with a bronze medal and an award for fourth.
Hubail was taking part in a major swim meet for the second time, while Darwish and Mahdi were making their competitive debuts.
BEST executive director Tareq Jumaa praised the swimmers for their achievements. He also congratulated His Majesty the King’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, as well as SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa on the medals.
