Despite the busy schedule, I recently accepted membership to the board of directors of the Amwaj Islands Central Owners Association. The board members honoured me with the post and responsibilities of vice-president.
I feel grateful and appreciated for this precious trust, and I thank everyone from the association for their efforts and hard work.
I would like to specifically acknowledge chairman Ahmed Al Salloom, whose effective leadership, supported by the association, has resolved many long-standing issues that had burdened previous administrations. With these challenges now addressed, I am optimistic about achieving significant successes and sustainable progress in the development and management of Amwaj Islands.
I am highly optimistic about the unique prospects presented by the enchanting Amwaj Islands. These islands possess unparalleled natural beauty and harbour immense investment potential, particularly with a view towards tourism. This aligns with my preference for diverse investments and expanding my vision in the real estate landscape. I am always eager to explore new opportunities, embrace challenges, and achieve success in novel and stimulating investment environments.
My interest in Amwaj Islands stems from its significance as a pioneering development project. While subsequent projects like Dilmunia and Diyar Al Muharraq have garnered considerable attention, Amwaj Islands continues to evolve rapidly and remains a highly competitive location. Its established community and status as the first of its kind in Bahrain provide a distinct advantage.
With time, I am confident that it will solidify its position as a premier residential, commercial and entertainment hub in Bahrain.
While Amwaj Islands hosts numerous residential areas and contributes to Bahrain’s economy through its restaurants, resorts and luxury hotels, it is also a popular leisure destination for both domestic and GCC tourists seeking idyllic beach vacations.
A key advantage of these islands, as highlighted by Mr Al Salloom during last Saturday’s board meeting, is that residents currently enjoy a wide range of benefits for the fees paid.
The association has maintained a 60 per cent reduction in maintenance fees while increasing services by more than 50pc. Its primary objective is to enhance service provision at minimal cost, while keeping maintenance fees stable.
Regarding the Lagoon area, it is important to note that the central association owns the common areas. Our role is focused on improving infrastructure and developing service concepts that incentivise investors to rent or purchase facilities within the Lagoon. A proposed development study, encompassing various improvement proposals, is currently under discussion with the administration for further decision-making.
During the meeting, I stressed the importance of investing in the association as a catalyst for revitalisation. By prioritising the expeditious provision of essential services, followed by an expansion of amenities, activities and investment opportunities, we can re-establish Amwaj Islands as a premier destination. This strategic approach will leverage the island’s inherent attractiveness and existing projects to regain its former prominence.
Furthermore, ongoing government initiatives are actively engaging with relevant agencies and institutions to reintegrate Amwaj Islands into the national tourism strategy and public events calendar. This targeted effort is expected to enhance investment and commercial activity within the region, fostering the creation of new public-private partnerships that will drive the sustainable development and advancement of the islands.
It is evident that Amwaj Islands has undergone significant positive transformation in recent times. This encompasses advancements in development, a comprehensive elevation of service standards, and reinforced security and safety measures. These endeavours are ongoing, and the board of directors aims to cultivate a conducive environment for existing projects, safeguarding property owners’ interests and upholding residents’ rights.
The board is also dedicated to realising its strategic objectives, which include both the enhancement of the islands and a broader contribution to the national economic landscape.
I believe Amwaj Islands is a significant asset to Bahrain. Having pioneered a concept that was unique at the time, the group continues to play a vital role in strengthening the kingdom’s tourism, real estate and investment sectors.
