MOTORSPORT – BAHRAINI-British GT3 team 2 Seas Motorsport announced yesterday the addition of British driver Frank Bird to complete a four-man line-up that will be competing in the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa later this month.
The event is the second Endurance Cup round of the 2024 GT World Challenge Europe and will be held at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium from June 26 to 30.
Bird will be sharing driving duties in 2 Seas’ #60 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo with team co-owner Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa of Bahrain, Martin Kodric of Croatia, and Lewis Williamson of Scotland.
“I am delighted to welcome Frank to the team for the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa, and also to be driving alongside him,” said Shaikh Isa. “I feel we have a strong line-up with Martin and Lewis, and Frank is a great addition. He knows the car extremely well, and brings experience of the race as well, so he’s a huge asset to us as a team.
“I am really looking forward to the whole race-week experience. It will be the biggest challenge we’ve faced as a team so far.”
Bird, who is a Mercedes-AMG junior driver, commented: “It is one of the biggest races in the calendar, which, as a driver, you always hope to be involved with – especially with this being the 100th edition – so it is great to get the call-up to be part of the 2 Seas effort.
“It is an achievement to just get to the finish. I’m joining a great line-up alongside Shaikh Isa, Martin and Lewis, so there’s no reason why we can’t put together a strong challenge.”
This season sees 2 Seas campaigning in the GT World Challenge Endurance Cup for the first time, alongside a two-car entry in the 2024 British GT Championship, where they currently hold P3 in both the GT3 teams’ and drivers’ standings. Prior to the 24-hour event, 2 Seas will be competing in round five of British GT this weekend at Spa.
