A NEW electric vehicle (EV) charging station has been opened at Hilton Bahrain to provide a convenient and eco-friendly amenity for both hotel guests and visitors to the property’s restaurants cafés.
This latest sustainability initiative is part of the hotel’s ongoing commitment to reduce its environmental impact and promote sustainable travel and tourism.
The hotel has partnered with Hilton’s global partner, McLaren, and the first vehicle that was charged at the new station was the latest McLaren Artura model.
“This partnership with Hilton Bahrain is an exciting opportunity to showcase our commitment to sustainability and the future of mobility,” said McLaren Bahrain’s sales manager Steven Rothwell.
“We are proud to have our pioneering Artura model be the first to utilise this new charging station, and we look forward to collaborating further to drive positive change in the automotive industry.”
Located in the hotel’s parking area, the new EV charging station is available at no cost for use by anyone staying at or visiting the property.
This is in support of Hilton’s global Travel with Purpose strategy, the company’s comprehensive Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) programme focused on driving responsible hospitality worldwide.
“Sustainability is a core pillar of our operations at Hilton Bahrain, and we are continuously exploring new ways to integrate environmentally-conscious practices throughout our hotel,” said Hilton Bahrain general manager Tamer Farouk.
“The introduction of this EV charging station represents an important milestone in our sustainability journey, making it easier for our guests and the local community to reduce their carbon footprint when visiting our property.”
The high-powered charging station is capable of fully replenishing the battery of most electric vehicle models in 4-6 hours.
This provides ample time for guests to enjoy a meal, relax by the pool, or take advantage of the hotel’s other on-site amenities while their car charges.
“This is a great example of how we use technology to support the environment and make it easier for our guests to reduce their carbon footprint,” added Mr Farouk.
“The EV charger launch is just one example of how Hilton Bahrain is driving positive change and empowering our guests to make greener lifestyle choices.”
In 2021, Bahrain inaugurated its first public EV charging station, a significant milestone in the country’s commitment to sustainable transportation.
The Transportation and Telecommunications Ministry has also introduced emissions-free electric scooters and bikes across the capital city of Manama, further enriching the country’s EV landscape.
