A festival celebrating culture, art and literature for Indian children will be held in Bahrain later this year.
The annual BFC-KCA Indian Talent Scan 2024, organised by the Kerala Catholic Association (KCA) in association with the Bahrain Financing Company (BFC), will take place from the last week of October to the first week of December.
More than 150 individual events have been lined up for this year’s competition which has been divided into five age groups. One participant will be allowed to compete in 10 individual events.
However, one participant can also take part in a number of team events. Points earned will not count towards Championship Awards, except in the case of a tie.
In response to feedback from previous years, the event has been announced earlier ‘to prevent scheduling conflicts with similar events’.
“This year, we plan to introduce a few new events. Discussions and preparations have also been started to ensure the programme is conducted as smoothly as possible,” said KCA president James John in a statement yesterday.
“We deeply appreciate the support from KCA members in making this event a grand success,” he added.
Six categories will be featured in the competition Natya Ratna (dance), Sangeet Ratna (song), Kala Ratna (arts and crafts), Sahitya Ratna (literary), Add-On Events and Team Events. Detailed events list and rules will be shared later.
Participants will also have the opportunity to win numerous awards and trophies. Some of the awards include: Kalathilakam and Kalaprathibha Awards, Group Championship Awards, KCA Special Awards, Natya Ratna, Sangeet Ratna, Kala Ratna and Sahitya Ratna Awards.
Children born between October 1, 2006 to September 30, 2019 are eligible to take part. They will be divided into five age groups.
Awards for Best Dance Teacher, Best Music Teacher and participation and performance awards to schools will also be given. First, second and third place winners will also be awarded with trophies and certificates. All participants will receive certificates.
Last year’s competitions attracted more than 800 children from 12 schools. There were more than 150 events. Around 750 trophies and certificates were also presented.
