The Vatican has unveiled a new anime-themed mascot for the Holy Year 2025.
Luce (Italian for ‘light’) is aimed at engaging a younger audience.
According to Archbishop Rino Fisichella, the Vatican’s chief organiser of the Holy Year 2025, the mascot aims to engage with “the pop culture so beloved by our youth”.
Luce sports a yellow raincoat, mud-stained boots and a pilgrim’s cross and her mission is to guide the young towards hope, faith and light as per her namesake.
Luce is set to debut this week at Italy’s Lucca Comics and Games convention.
