The mystery of disappearing shoes snatched from outside a mosque has been solved after worshippers installed CCTV cameras to capture the culprit responsible ... and discovered the thief had four legs.
A dastardly desert dog sneaked off with the footwear and piled them up in a neighbouring abandoned property for a good chew.
Worshippers usually take off their shoes to enter a mosque and the sneaky mutt knew the best day to raid.
“We installed a surveillance camera after shoes started disappearing during Friday prayers,” explained one of the worshippers who posted a video showing the canine culprit in action on his social media.
A large selection of shoes were found in his hiding place and it appears the mosque was not the only place he had stolen from in the village of Karzakan.
“I found my shoe fortunately, it was chewed but still wearable,” the villager added.
“There was a pile of shoes discovered and we are handing them back to their rightful owners.”
