Under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, the closing ceremony of the 2025 His Majesty the King’s Shooting Championship was held at the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) digital range.
His Majesty deputised BDF Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa to attend the ceremony.
The event was attended by National Guard Commander Lieutenant General Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa, National Security Adviser and Royal Guard Commander Lieutenant General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Royal Guard Special Force Commander Colonel Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Defence Affairs Minister Lieutenant General Abdulla bin Hassan Al Nuaimi, BDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Theyab bin Saqr Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council of Health chairman Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, and Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.
Military Sports Federation director Brigadier Mohammed Abdulatif bin Jalal delivered a speech highlighting the BDF’s notable sports achievements this year. He attributed these accomplishments to the directives and continuous support of the Commander-in-Chief.
Among the key achievements mentioned were the gold medal won by Lt Gen Shaikh Nasser at the World Endurance Championship, which served as an inspiration for other athletes. Other notable accomplishments included winning four medals at the Paris Olympics, victory in the Gulf Cup, first place in the GCC Military Shooting Championship, first place in the World Military Golf Championship, first place in the World Athletics Cross Country Championships, third place in the World Military Judo Championship, third place in the International Sniper Competition, and third place in the International Military Pentathlon Championship.
He also commended the support of Col Shaikh Khalid for sports and athletes, and his major contribution to achieving these results.
He concluded by expressing gratitude to the Commander-in-Chief for attending the closing ceremony, wishing the kingdom continued security and prosperity under His Majesty’s leadership.
The championship events included shooting, tug of war, and the warrior competition, with participation from officers and personnel across various BDF units.
The Commander-in-Chief noted that the achievements of Bahrain’s military sports teams in international events reflect the support of His Majesty and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Prime Minister.
He underscored the BDF’s commitment to supporting military sports and commended the ongoing efforts to ensure readiness and excellence in sports, contributing to Bahrain’s continued presence on regional and international sporting platforms.
After the competition, the Commander-in-Chief presented the awards to the winning teams:
– First place in Physical Fitness (2024-2025): Special Battalion 83
– First place in Tug of War: Royal Special Force
– First place in Plate Shooting (Rifle): Royal Bahrain Naval Force
– First place in Plate Shooting (Submachine Gun): Royal Guard
– First place in Plate Shooting (Pistol): Special Battalion 83
– First place in Warrior Competition (Other Ranks): Special Battalion 83
– First place in Warrior Competition (Officers): Royal Guard
– Military Shooting Cup: Royal Guard
The Commander-in-Chief presented the 2024-2025 Sports Excellence Award to Lt Gen Shaikh Nasser. He expressed his appreciation to all participants and wished them continued success in future championships.
