PREPARATIONS for the third Asian Youth Games, to be hosted by Bahrain in October, continued with a coordination meeting focused on information technology, bringing together officials from the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and Bahrain’s executive committee.
The meeting, held yesterday, was co-chaired by Waleed Mubarak, director of the Technology and Information Department at the OCA, and Ahmed Abdulghaffar, deputy chairman of the organising committee. Representatives from Bornan Sports Technology also attended. Discussions centred on assessing the IT infrastructure for the Games.
Earlier this month, Bahrain hosted meetings for technical delegates and heads of participating delegations.
Bahrain is set to host the third Asian Youth Games from October 22 to 31, with more than 3,500 athletes from 42 countries competing in 24 sports.
The Games were initially scheduled to take place in Uzbekistan, but the country withdrew due to the unavailability of its sports city in Tashkent. The OCA officially granted Bahrain the hosting rights earlier this year, following Uzbekistan’s withdrawal.
