BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU – BAHRAIN’S Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) national team star Pedro Bisi de Jesus added to his impressive collection of major accolades after winning a silver medal in the World IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025, held in Long Beach, California, in the US.
De Jesus secured his place on the podium in the male juvenile two blue belt super-heavy division.
The Reza’s Martial Arts Centre standout faced Ricardo Candido Gomes Filho in the final, where Filho took gold.
Earlier, de Jesus defeated Aureliano Cristoval Emilio Segura in his first match to secure his place in the final.
Segura eventually shared the bronze medal with Ian Faria Rodrigues, who had previously bowed to Filho.
The championship was organised by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) and it featured the very best of Gi BJJ athletes from around the world, competing across various weight classes and belts in both men’s and women’s divisions.
De Jesus is one of the kingdom’s brightest young talents in BJJ. Earlier this year, he made history as the first-ever BJJ fighter coming out of Bahrain to win a gold medal at the European IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which was held in Lisbon, Portugal.
