His Majesty King Hamad, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and Prime Minister, received congratulations from BDF Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, on the international achievements of the BDF’s military judo and golf teams.
Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa said that these accomplishments reflect the outcomes of the King’s care for the armed forces and the continued support of HRH Prince Salman. He also highlighted the BDF General Command’s interest in military sports, which has contributed to Bahrain’s growing record of international sporting achievements. He commended the BDF Military Sports Association for its role in preparing the teams for competition.
The BDF judo team ranked first among participating Gulf and Arab countries at the 43rd World Military Judo Championship in Germany.
Ruslan Poltoratsky won the gold medal in the under-60kg category, while his teammate Askerbii Gerbekov won silver in the under-81kg category, outperforming athletes from 37 countries.
At the 16th World Military Golf Championship held in Kenya, the BDF golf team emerged second overall, behind France, with South Africa taking third. Individually, Sergeant Khalifa Al Muraisi finished second, and other members of the team achieved high rankings in the senior category.
Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa commended the athletes’ determination and strong results, noting that their success serves as a driving force to further develop military sports and represent Bahrain proudly in international competitions. He also underscored the efforts of the BDF Military Sports Association and highlighted the ongoing support it receives from the kingdom’s leadership.
