CYCLING – TEAM Bahrain Victorious rider Phil Bauhaus took eighth yesterday in the inaugural edition of the Copenhagen Sprint in Denmark.
The event was for the fast men on the UCI WorldTour – marking the newest edition and 21st one-day race in international cycling’s most prestigious series.
The route was from Roskilde to the Danish capital – generally flat with no significant climbs – covering a distance of 235.6 kilometres and featuring 163 riders.
Bauhaus, from Germany, was part of a bunch sprint to the finish, which was led by race winner Jordi Meeus of Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe. He finished in a time of five hours one minute and 15 seconds.
Amongst the other Bahrain Victorious riders, Australian Robert Stannard came 41st, Slovenians Matezv Govekar and Zak ERzen were 54th and 56th, respectively, Italian Alberto Bruttomesso was 59th, Belgian Vlad Van Mechelen was 77th, and Briton Oliver Stockwell finished 99th.
