THE executive committee of the third Asian Youth Games has officially launched a nationwide advertising campaign to promote the prestigious continental event, set to take place in the kingdom from October 22 to 31.
Under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad, Bahrain will, for the first time, host this landmark youth sports festival, which will bring together athletes from across Asia.
According to the event’s executive committee operations director Abdulrahman Al Abbad, the first phase of the promotional campaign has already commenced.
Advertisements have been installed along key public roads and major highways, including along Seef District, Bahrain International Airport in Muharraq, and Shaikh Isa bin Salman bridge.
Al Abbad noted that a second phase of the campaign will soon roll out, expanding coverage to additional areas across the kingdom to maximise public awareness and engagement.
“We are working according to a well-prepared strategic plan, aiming to reach as many regions of Bahrain as possible to highlight the significance of this event,” Al Abbad explained.
“The third Asian Youth Games will mark the first time the kingdom hosts an Asian Games event for the youth category, welcoming participants from 45 countries who will compete in 24 sports and 253 competitions across various venues in Bahrain’s governorates.”
Al Abbad added that the advertising initiative features numerous creative proposals and concepts, which will be implemented over the coming period following the completion of required procedures and approvals.
The Asian Youth Games is highly regarded as the second-largest multi-sport meeting in the continent, surpassed only by the Asian Games at the senior level.
This upcoming edition is linked to the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal in 2026.
Bahrain’s hosting of the third Asian Youth Games follows the massive success of the ISF Gymnasiade Bahrain 2024, held last October. The event, held in co-operation with the International School Sport Federation (ISF), featured more than 5,000 participants, including 4,000 athletes, from more than 80 countries.
The first edition of the Asian Youth Games was held in 2009 in Singapore with 43 nations competing in nine sports. The second edition was in Nanjing, China in 2013 with 45 countries participating in 16 sports. Succeeding editions in 2017 and 2021 were cancelled, and the stage is now set for the event to be held in Bahrain.
