HORSERACING – CHIMGAN lifted the HH Shaikh Mohamed Bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup last night to headline the 21st meeting of the 2025-26 season at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Sakhir.
Chimgan triumphed in the evening’s fifth of eight races, held over 1,400m for imported horses who were vying for a share of the BD5,000 total prize purse.
The seven-year-old gelding was competing for owners Al Mohamediya Racing and trainer Ali Abdulmajeed, with Neil Callan in the saddle.
Jarham was second for Mohamediya, Fawzi Nass, and Hussain Asghar; Smart Craftsman came third for M and E Racing, Paul Smith, and Edinson Rodriguez; and Fashion Girl took fourth place for Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, Robert McDowall, and Husain Makki.
Meanwhile, Dream Out Loud won the Horse Welfare Authority Cup, held as last night’s fourth race, run over a 1,200m straight and also offering BD5,000 in total prize money.
Jockey Abdulla Faisal steered the four-year-old gelding to first place for owner Hasan Mefareh Alajmi and trainer Jaber Ramadhan.
Finishing as the runner-up was Devaste, competing for Mohamediya, Osama Hashim, and Callan; in third was Grand Grey, racing for Al Afoo Racing, Ramadhan, and Ebrahim Nader; while Inveigle came fourth for Sayed Jawad Marzooq, Mahmood Jawad, and Makki.
