The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) supports Qatar Olympic Committee president Shaikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani in his candidacy for the presidency of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).
This was announced yesterday by Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and BOC president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who said that the kingdom remains steadfast in its support for Gulf sports leaders seeking international positions, following the principles of joint-Gulf cooperation in the sports sector.
Shaikh Joaan
Shaikh Joaan is recognised as a leading Gulf sports figure who has held key international positions, including Association of National Olympic Committees first vice-president. These roles have contributed to achievements for Qatar, the region, and Asia.
Shaikh Khalid commended the strategic vision adopted by Shaikh Joaan in his candidacy for the OCA presidency, which is founded upon supporting development efforts, promoting cooperative initiatives in the fields of governance and sports administration, and enhancing the infrastructure and institutional capacities of member National Olympic Committees.
