A COMPETITION inviting young shutterbugs to showcase their skills and bring alive the concept of sustainable tourism in Bahrain was launched yesterday.
The Sustainable Development Ministry, in collaboration with the Tourism Ministry, the Nikon Youth Programme and Ashrafs, announced the event entitled Sustainable Tourism in Bahrain through the Eyes of Youth, as part of Youth City 2030.
The event is open to the youth aged from 15 to 35.
Some of the themes that participants are expected to explore through their creative submissions include archaeological and historical landmarks, environmental events, recreational and sporting activities and traditional local cuisine, all showcasing the cultural, environmental and social dimensions of sustainable tourism.
Finalists will undergo a specialised training programme to help them develop their photography skills and understanding of sustainable tourism.
The closing ceremony will be staged during the final week of Youth City 2030, and feature an exhibition of the completed visual projects.
Winners will receive valuable prizes, participate in the Nikon Youth Programme and have their work showcased on national platforms.
The GDN previously reported that the 14th edition of Youth City 2030, which was launched last week at Exhibition World Bahrain in Sakhir and will run until August 30, aims to increase youth participation and provide quality training opportunities to help them develop their skills and prepare for the labour market.
Youth City 2030 is organised by the Youth Affairs Ministry, in strategic partnership with the Labour Fund (Tamkeen).
Those interested in entering the photography contest can submit their entries via the official submission form available at https://forms.office.com/r/2GiJ9as0CRv by August 3.
