A delegation from Bahrain travelled to Macedonia to study their successful hosting of the European Youth Festival, held in the capital Skopje.
The trip was part of the kingdom’s preparations for the upcoming third Asian Youth Games (AYG), set to be hosted by Bahrain from October 22 to 31.
The primary objective of the visit is to gain insights into the operations of the European Youth Festival, which featured age groups similar to those of the Asian Youth Games. The experience is particularly relevant as both events serve as qualifiers for the Youth Olympic Games, set to take place in Dakar in 2026.
During their visit, the Bahrain delegation toured various facilities and venues involved in the European event, observing the preparations and infrastructure in place. Additionally, they participated as volunteers in several committees, allowing them to acquire first-hand knowledge of the operational processes involved in organising such large-scale events.
The delegation also engaged in discussions with key officials from the European Olympic Committee and the local organising committee in Macedonia.
They met organising committee president Spyros Capralos and executive committee chairman Mihai Claudiu Covaliu. During these meetings, Asian Youth Games operations director Abdulrahman Al Abbad exchanged commemorative gifts, symbolising the collaboration and shared commitment to excellence in sports event management.
The visit aims to ensure that the Bahraini team can leverage the experiences acquired to host the Asian Youth Games in an exemplary manner.
