Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro has issued a decision approving the national technical regulation for nicotine pouch products, under classification ICS 65.160.
The decision prohibits the sale or free distribution of nicotine pouches to individuals under the age of 18.
It also authorises the Health Ministry to enforce the regulation for a one-year period, starting from the beginning of 2026, when the decision comes into force.
In a separate decision, Mr Fakhro also authorised the Health Ministry to monitor the implementation of the technical regulation for electronic nicotine products, for a period of three years, beginning this August.
