THE Capital Trustees Authority has launched a campaign to monitor and penalise violations by trucks transporting waste without properly covering their loads.
The initiative, announced by the authority on its official account (@capital.mun), comes under the framework of the 2019 Public Cleanliness Law, which sets strict requirements for waste transportation vehicles.
According to Article 9 of the law, waste transport trucks must be kept in good condition and tightly covered to ensure that no part of their content falls, leaks, flows, or scatters while in transit.
The rule is further reinforced by detailed conditions and specifications outlined in the law’s executive regulations.
Officials stressed that uncovered or poorly maintained waste trucks not only violate hygiene regulations but also pose serious risks to public health, road safety and the environment.
The campaign will involve regular inspections of waste transport vehicles operating within the capital, with violators facing penalties as stipulated by the law.

The Capital Trustees Authority said the move aims to preserve cleanliness across Manama and promote compliance among waste management contractors.

“Maintaining public hygiene and a safe environment is a shared responsibility,” the authority said in a statement.
“Truck operators and contractors are urged to abide by the law and its executive regulations, as non-compliance will not be tolerated.”
The authority also urged the public to report uncovered waste trucks to municipal hotlines to support the enforcement efforts.
