In line with ongoing efforts to support national talent in the financial services sector, the Bahrain Development Bank (BDB) has successfully advanced the professional growth of 136 Bahraini employees through multiple programmes offered by the Labour Fund (Tamkeen).
Tamkeen’s support for national talent at the Bahrain Development Bank aligns with Tamkeen’s 2025 strategic priorities, which focus on enhancing the position and competitiveness of Bahrainis in the private sector, equipping Bahrainis with suitable skills for career development in the private sector, and prioritising enterprise growth, digitisation and sustainability.
The support aims to enhance the Financial and Insurance Services sector, which is one of the largest contributing sectors to Bahrain’s GDP, accounting for 17.4 per cent according to the first quarter of this year. The sector employs over 100,000 Bahrainis across a wide range of different roles and specialties according to Q1 data from the Employability Skills Portal for this year.
Tamkeen continues its efforts to support local enterprises that are committed to developing and enhancing the skills of their national workforce and advancing their professional growth across sectors, aligning with Tamkeen’s goals to make Bahrainis the first choice of employment.
Through its various programmes and offerings, Tamkeen supports enterprises across all sectors and reinforces the private sector’s pivotal role in driving Bahrain’s economic growth. These efforts include initiatives focused on employment and career progression to position Bahrainis as the first choice of employment in the labour market.
Established in 1992, the BDB is a specialised development bank focused on financing and supporting the growth of small and medium enterprises in Bahrain. The bank also prioritises fostering an entrepreneurial culture across diverse sectors and economic activities.
