MOTORSPORT – BAHRAINI-British GT team 2 Seas Motorsport narrowly missed out on a podium in class last night in the first race of the seventh and penultimate round in the International GT Open 2025, taking place at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain.
2 Seas, co-owned by Bahrain’s Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, are competing in the event with the tandem of Charles Dawson and McKenzy Cresswell, who are sharing the duties in their #222 Mercedes-AMG GT3.
The 2 Seas crew were classified fifth in the ProAm class and 13th overall at the end of race one, which was held over an hour’s duration. They had started from the same position amongst the ProAm runners and 16th on the grid, which featured a total of 32 contenders.
Cresswell brought their car home yesterday, finishing 18.634 seconds behind winners in class Dexter Muller and Yannick Mettler of CBRX by SPS, who were behind the wheel of their #54 Mercedes-AMG.
SPS Automotive Performances’ Dominik Baumann and Valentin Pierburg were second in class in their #20 Mercedes-AMG, while Filip Salaquarda and Libor Milota took the other podium step for Team ISR in their #75 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II.
Just 13.239s ahead of 2 Seas in fourth for ProAm were Steve Jans and Aaron Walker of GetSpeed in their #6 Mercedes-AMG.
2 Seas are scheduled to return to action today for the round’s second race, which is scheduled to flag off at 3.05pm, Bahrain time. Prior to that, Dawson and Cresswell will be battling to secure a leading grid position in qualifying, slated for a 10.15am start today morning, also Bahrain time.
