AROUND 170 teams took part yesterday in the NBK Bahrain Marathon Relay 2025 – one of the kingdom’s biggest and most popular charity running races.
The 30-kilometre event featured 10 stages, starting and finishing at Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir.
British Ambassador Alastair Long was in attendance as the race got underway.
Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait emerged as the overall winners for the second straight year, completing the race in a total time of one hour 37 minutes 29 seconds.
Al Kuwaiti Auto Parts finished second in 1:40:02, while Crowne Plaza A took third place in 1:44:46.
GDN Media were amongst yesterday’s participants. The squad was composed of 10 members, spearheaded by GDN editor-in-chief Stanley Szecowka. The team came a valiant 159th on the final ranking.
This year’s Bahrain Marathon Relay was sponsored by National Bank of Kuwait (NBK), and organised by Bahrain Road Runners (BRR) in co-operation with The British Club and the Bahrain Athletics Association.
The fun run was founded by The British Club Bahrain in 1981 and has become an important highlight on the annual sporting calendar in the kingdom, raising funds for various charitable causes.
