Skills Bahrain, an initiative under the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), in partnership with the Education Ministry, has successfully wrapped up the first phase of its national awareness campaign for secondary school students.
The campaign, which featured a series of interactive sessions across all governorates, was designed to equip students with crucial information on future jobs and in-demand specialisations within Bahrain’s labour market.
Engaging over 5,000 students from 38 public schools, the initiative aims to support informed academic and career decisions. Students explored emerging labour market trends and understood how to align their choices with national development requirements.
Key insights and guidance on economic sectors and educational pathways are available through the Employability Skills Portal (www.esp.bh). The portal serves as a national reference point, offering students and parents data-driven information, including interactive dashboards on high-demand occupations, salary ranges, and a directory of educational institutions.
“This joint campaign reflects the ministry’s commitment to raising students’ awareness of labour market requirements and empowering them to plan early,” said Ibrahim Al Burshaid, assistant under-secretary for education at the Education Ministry.
Amer Marhoon, managing director of Skills Bahrain, added: “Our collaboration with the Education Ministry reinforces the value of aligning students’ interests with labour market needs, helping them understand their aspirations while contributing to the competitiveness of Bahrain’s economy.”
Skills Bahrain operates under Tamkeen to fill the skills gap by providing employers, educators, and stakeholders with the necessary intelligence and sector-specific data, ultimately aiming to develop skilled and globally competitive Bahraini talent.
