A woman has been sentenced to three months in prison by the Lower Criminal Court for operating a nursery without a licence or proper authorisation.
The Public Prosecution received a report from the Education Ministry stating that the nursery was open and serving 30 children, despite the woman having previously been fined twice for failing to obtain a licence and for reopening the facility.
During an inspection, authorities found that safety regulations were not being observed.
Upon interrogation, the woman admitted to receiving children and providing educational and recreational activities in exchange for fees collected from parents, without securing the necessary licences.
The nursery was subsequently closed, and the woman was referred to the Lower Criminal Court, which issued the verdict yesterday.
