A warm welcome to Their Majesties and Highnesses, the leaders of the GCC, to their second home, the Kingdom of Bahrain, which is hosting the 46th Summit under the presidency of His Majesty King Hamad.
This summit reflects the deep-rooted Gulf bonds and a unified destiny. It also demonstrates the strength of the GCC, the solidity of its progress, and its pivotal role in reinforcing security and stability, while supporting comprehensive development pathways in the region.
This summit convenes amid regional and global circumstances that require a high degree of political wisdom and alignment of visions, given the rapidly evolving developments affecting regional security and casting their shadows over economic, defence, and development. From this standpoint, the summit emerges as an essential platform to reaffirm a unified Gulf stance and to solidify a joint-coordination approach. The preparatory meetings between Bahrain and the GCC General Secretariat have demonstrated the highest levels of readiness and commitment to ensuring the success of this distinguished Gulf event.
On the economic front, GCC countries continue to reinforce their position as one of the world’s most important economic blocs, with a combined GDP of approximately $2.1 trillion, alongside ongoing growth in non-oil sectors and expanding opportunities tied to digital transformation and increased attraction of high-value investments. These are indicators of the vitality of Gulf economies and their capacity to adapt to global changes.
The significance of this summit lies in its embodiment of the executive dimension of the GCC joint action system, as the effectiveness of the Council is measured by its ability to translate visions into practical reality and well-defined programmes that enhance integration and strengthen the presence of its member states on the regional and international stages.
We hope that the 46th Gulf Summit marks a major step forward in the GCC’s journey, contributing to deeper unity, stronger security and stability, and greater achievements for the peoples of its member states – reaffirming that Gulf co-operation remains a fundamental pillar for the prosperity and future of the region.
