TENNIS – NAZLI Hudaykulieva from Turkmenistan secured a sensational title double in week two of the ITF Asia 14&U Development Championships for West and Central Asia.
Nazli won the girls’ singles title after defeating Jordan’s Ayasofia Ghokashaw 6-3, 6-2 in their final, and then teamed up with compatriot Sulgun Ishankuliyeva to claim the girls’ doubles crown with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over the Lebanese duo of Maria El Hachache and Mariam Kamareddine.
On the distaff, Hamza El Mansoury from Saudi Arabia narrowly came up short in his bid for a double championship. He claimed the boys’ singles title after defeating Iraq’s Hassan Ghrairi 6-3, 6-0. But then, partnered with fellow-Saudi Elyas Al Gafli, lost to the Iraqi duo of Ghrairi and Faisal Badr 6-7 (2), 3-6 in the boys’ doubles final.
Following all the action, the winners were presented their respective medals by Bahrain Tennis Federation (BTF) secretary general Fuad Al Rowaie and BTF board member Mohammed Salman.
